Selectmen Minutes 07/19/07

Town of Greenfield
Selectmen’s Meeting Minutes
Thursday – July 19, 2007 – 8:30 am
Chairman:       Aaron Kullgren
Selectwoman:    Karen Day
Selectman:      Jarvis Adams, IV
Administrative Assistant, Deb Davidson taking minutes
Call to Order:  Kullgren called meeting to order at 8:30 am.
Appointments:
8:30 – Wastewater Operator, James Cruthers – Mr. Cruthers was introduced to Selectwoman Day.  Kullgren discussed the recent resignation from Mr. Cruthers.  It was discussed what could be done to have him reconsider.  Mr. Cruthers stated that he has spoken with Adams, and the job is taking significantly more time than originally anticipated.  There have been problems with the numbers regarding the effluent.  He has been running tests approximately once a month.  If these tests had been sent to ChemServe they would have been $60.00 each time.  The pump that is not operating needs to be replaced and alarms going off unexpectedly all need attention.  If the job was what had originally been quoted the $400.00/quarter is sufficient, but it is more time consuming than originally anticipated.
Cruthers asked if the new monitoring wells had been sampled, Assistant Davidson said yes they had and they were ok.
Adams stated that we are having a hearing in the next week or so and would like to have a realistic proposal to be able to realistically present new figures to the users.
Day asked if it would be beneficial to have additional operators in the event Mr. Cruthers is out of town etc.  It was agreed this would be a benefit to the town.
Kullgren recommended $800.00/ quarter salary, asking if that was realistic.
Cruthers responded that seemed reasonable.
Cruthers explained what goes into the system, out of the system and what is involved with the testing and more.
The Board thanked Mr. Cruthers for this meeting and his reconsideration of his resignation.   They will all be in touch.  Mr. Cruthers will provide a revised contract.
Road Agent – Mr. Fox updated the Board of Selectmen where we are with FEMA
Document Signing – The Board signed A/P and other documentation that needed signing.
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 9:10 am.   The next scheduled meeting is Tuesday, July 24th at 6:00 pm, that meeting will be a working session only, no appointments will be scheduled or taken at that time.
